Chicken Tikka on Tawa

Tikka means a “chunk” or a "piece".Chicken tikka is a very easy to make,mouth watering south asian starter or appetizer,where boneless chicken cubes are first marinated in aromatic spiced yogurt & then skewered together and grilled on tawa or oven.Chicken tikka is a very common recipe in Indian restaurants food list across the world.


Generally I cooked It up in two ways,grilled in oven or fried on tawa.This time I cooked it on tawa.I do prefer tawa fried version because it keeps the chicken soft and juicy rather than oven grill.



Chicken Tikka On Tawa Recipe:



Ingredients:


• Boneless chicken - I took 3 breast strips (cut into cube size)

• Ginger garlic paste - 1.5 tbsp

• Hung curd - 1 cup

• Lemon - 1 (take out the juice from it)

• Garam masala powder - 1 tsp

• Roasted cumin & coriander powder - 2 tsp

• Chaat masala - 1 tsp

• Chopped cilantro leaves (Coriander leaves ) - 1 tbsp

• Crushed black peppercorns - 1/2 tsp

• Red chili powder -1 tsp

• Salt to taste

• Oil - 1 to 2 tbsp

• Capsicums - as needed (Cut into Cube size)

• Onions - as needed (cut into Cube shape)


Other Equipments:


• Wooden/ Metal  Skewers

• Oil greasing brush


Method:


  • At first clean and wash the Chicken Pieces and keep it aside.


  • Soak the wooden skewers 30 minutes - 1 hour before using to avoid the skewers burning.


  • Take a bowl add curd & all the spices red chili Powder,roasted cumin & coriander powder,crushed black peppercorns,chaat Masala,garam masala powder accordingly in to the bowl.


  • Add ginger & garlic paste,chopped cilantro,lemon juice & salt as per your taste.


  • Add oil and mix well all the ingredients together & make a lump free batter.


  • Now add chicken pieces,onion & capsicum cubes.Mix well until coated properly.


  • Cover the bowl and keep it in refrigerator for over night or at least 2-3 hours.


  • Take out the marinated chicken,take the skewers or kebab sticks and put the chicken and vegetables on to this sticks accordingly.


  • Now heat a tawa & grease it with some oil and place the skewers (kebab sticks) on the tawa & cook them in 2-3 batches on low to medium heat.


  • Keep turning the sticks and cook each side evenly until the chicken and veggies cooked properly.If needed brush the chicken with some oil.


  • When all the sides of the chicken kebabs cooked well turn off the flame & serve Tikka hot with your choice of sauce.
