Rui Komola (Rohu Fish In Orange Juice Gravy)

We Bengalis are very fond of fish.Fish takes the leading role in most of the Bengali Families daily menu.Bengalis are eating vast variety of fishes and the list of the preparation that can be made from this fishes are countless.Rohu/Rui fish is the common and famous fish among of them.
Rui komola is the Bengali Cuisine Fish Recipe,Sweet Spicy and Tangy in Taste.This fish curry is cooked With Orange juice and spices.
I cooked this Rui komola recipe during this year's Noboborsho (Bengali New year) as a special dish.And the outcome was really delicious.
Ingredients For making Rui/Rohu Komola Recipe:
9 pieces - Rohu/Rui fish
1/4 tsp - Kalojira (Nigella Seeds)
2 - Dry red chillies
1 tsp - Ginger paste
1 - Tomato paste
1 tsp - Cumin powder
1 tsp - Coriander powder
4 to 5 - Green chillies
1/2 cup - Orange juice
1 tsp - Turmeric powder
1/2 tsp - Kashmiri red chili powder
1 tsp - Garam masala powder
Mustard Oil as required
Salt to taste
Method:
Clean the fish pieces and marinate them with the turmeric Powder & salt and keep them aside for 10 mins.
Heat the oil in the frying pan and fry the fish pieces till golden on both sides.Transfer the fish in a plate and Keep aside.
Add some oil in that pan then add kalojira (Nigella seeds) & dry red chillies to temper the oil.When they starts splattering add ginger paste.Saute till raw smell goes off.
Now add tomato paste fry it for 3-4 minutes.Now add all dry masala powders,salt and some lukewarm water and cook for 3-4 minutes.When masala cooked well and raw smell goes off fully add more water (as required) to make fish gravy.
When water starts to boil add fried fish pieces,cover the pan with lid and cook for 10-12 minutes, add salt if required.
Open the lid & lower the flame and add the orange juice and mix it well.Cover the lid again and cook for another 5-6 minutes on low flame.Don’t cook for longer time once you add the orange juice.
Open the lid and add garam masala powder and green chillies.Give a quick mix and turn off the flame.
Remove the pan from the heat and let it rest for 5-6 minutes.Now Rui komola is ready ,serve it hot with white rice or Pulao.
