Palak Paneer

There are different types of Indian Cottage cheese or Paneer recipes in all over the India.Palak Paneer is one of the most delicious recipe among them.Palak paneer is a North Indian vegetarian recipe made by Paneer or Indian cottage cheese cubes in mild spicy & aromatic smooth blended spinach gravy.The ingredients which I used for this recipe are Paneer,Spinach,Onion,Garlic,Tomato,Ginger,Spices & Cilantro leaves.It goes well with Rice or Roti or Naan.


In my childhood time I saw my mom used to make some simple but tasty recipes with spinach called "Palong sakh ghonto or rosha" & "Palak moong dal" in different ways during winter time.Later when we tasted this delicious palak paneer dish in restaurant,we just loved it and after that we started making this recipe in our home too.


Ingredients For Making The Palak Paneer Recipe:


•Spinach - 300 gm

•Paneer - 150 gm

•Tomato - 1 medium size

•Ginger - 1 Inch chopped

•Garlic cloves - 4 no

•Green chillies - 3 or more to taste

•Onion - 1 medium size chopped

•Coriander powder - 1 tsp

•Garam Masala powder - 1 tsp

•Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp

•Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp

•Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp

•Salt to taste

•Lukewarm water as needed

•Coriander leaves - 1/2 cup chopped

•Lemon juice - 1 tsp or as per taste

•Vegetable oil - 1.5 tbsp


Method:


•Heat the 1/2 tbsp oil in a fry pan,add Onion,Ginger,Garlic,Green chillies into the pan & saute them for 3-4 minutes.Then add chopped tomato and little salt and mix well and fry them for another 2-3 minutes or till they soften.


•Now add pre washed spinach leaves & coriander leaves and little lukewarm water & cover the pan and cook till spinach leaves wilted.


•Transfer them into a mixer grinder and make a smooth palak puree and set it aside.


•Now heat the 1 tbsp oil in the frying pan,add cumin seeds for tempering to the oil.


•When they starts splattering add spinach puree into the pan,turn the heat lower and add all spices like Coriander powder,Chili powder,Turmeric powder,Garam Masala powder,Salt to taste,give a nice mix all together.Add water if needed.


•Cover the pan with lid and simmer for 10 -15 minutes or more till spinach cooked well and gravy becomes thicker.


•Now add paneer cubes in to the gravy.Give a gentle mix and cook for 3-4 minutes or till Paneer becomes soft.Don’t overcook Paneer.


•Add lemon juice,mix & turn off the heat.Transfer the Palak Paneer in a bowl and serve it hot with Rice or Naan or Roti.
